The mission and purpose of the Bayside Acres Home Owners Association is to promote the welfare and interests of the owners and residents within the subdivision. The Association provides a common forum for discussing and resolving issues within the subdivision as well as a representing its members with external entities such as Marin County, the City of San Rafael and the Pt. San Pedro Road Coalition. The Association provides timely notification to its residents of events such as road work, construction and suspicious activities. It works with other groups in dealing with broader issues such as emergency preparedness for potential disasters, the planned development at the Loch Lomond Marina and the condition of the medians along Pt. San Pedro Road.
The Association is a voluntary organization and has a Board of Directors and Bylaws which both governs and limits the Board's responsibilities. A member of the Association must own a parcel within the subdivision and be current on dues (a nominal $10/year). Most of the work of the Association is done by volunteers while the dues cover incidental expenses such as the Annual Meeting, occasional mailings and this website. See the Bylaws for more details as well as the Minutes of the Association Annual Meetings which are posted on this website.
The Association maintains a directory of addresses and emails of owners and residents within the subdivision. This information is kept private and only for use by the Association. If you feel the directory does not have your information, or has an error, please contact us. We can maintain up to two (2) email addresses per physical residence. To add your correct your information in our database, please Contact the Webmaster. Include your physical address within the subdivision in your information as only owners and residents are included. Occasional emails are sent to our email list to inform residents of important matters or events.
A History
When Marin was first sesttled by the Mexicans, there was a land grant made to Timothy Murphy of 21,000 acres. It was called Santa Margarita, San Pedro y Las Gallinas. San Pedro includes what is now Bayside Acres, while Santa Margarita and Las Gallinas refer to Lucas Valley and Terra Linda/Santa Venetia respectively. This is the reason that Assessor's Book 186, which covers Bayside Acres, is titled "por Rancho Santa Margarita, San Pedro y Las Gallinas."
The Bayside Acres subdivision was created from ranch land by the Mount Venice Company, a Corporation of the City and County of San Francisco, which purchased the land somewhere along the line from Timothy Murphy or his successors. The original subdivision map was filed on Oct. 28, 1911. The map includes all the lots of Bayside Acres except those on the Glenwood side of Main Drive and uphill from the Main-Bayview connector (which is shown as Bayview Drive on the map). A second subdivision map was filed in 1913 to complete the subdivision.
The Association was formed when the subdivision was established and all parcel owners were required to be members, but the mandatory requirement was dropped and it became a voluntary organization in 1957.
